Multitech – Quick Start

Objective

This document describes the procedure for connecting to the MULTITECH web server with EWATTCH firmware in order to configure it and add it as a device in the EWATTCH Cloud.

Prerequisites

Required for startup
  • Installation location with Ethernet or 4G coverage
  • Internet access from the Ethernet network
  • Power outlet near the Multitech
  • Multitech in factory configuration
  • Ewattch CLOUD account and structure

Startup Procedure

  • Connect the power supply to the MULTITECH
  • Configure the computer Ethernet connection with a fixed IP address: 192.168.1.100
  • Check that the MULTITECH is fully started (Status LED cycle: 2 flashes in 1 second, LED off for 1 second…)
  • Connect the Ethernet cable, open a web browser (Google Chrome is used in this documentation), and enter the following IP address in the navigation bar: http://192.168.1.197
  • Enter the login: admin and password: password. We strongly recommend changing these credentials upon first login. You now have access to the MULTITECH configuration.
  • Connect the power supply to the MULTITECH
  • Verify that the MULTITECH has fully started (Status LED cycle: 2 flashes in 1 second, LED off for 1 second…)
  • Connect the Ethernet cable, open a web browser (Google Chrome is used in this documentation), and enter the following hostname in the address bar: mtcdt-ewattch-<last 3 parts of the MAC address in lowercase>.local
  • Enter the login: admin and password: password. We strongly recommend changing these credentials upon first login. You now have access to the MULTITECH configuration.
  • While still connected to the MULTITECH, log in to Ewattch Cloud https://ewattch.cloud and go to the desired structure. Click + Add a device in the devices section.
  • Enter the device name, the MAC address and the API key (these two pieces of information are available in the Home tab of the MULTITECH web server). Click save.

By default, the communication channel is set to Ethernet. Below is the procedure to switch to GPRS:

  • Log in to the MULTITECH, click the Configuration tab then PLATFORM, and in the interface section select GPRS.

The MULTITECH must communicate with Ewattch Cloud. Otherwise provisioning will not be applied to the MULTITECH.

  • Log in to Ewattch Cloud https://ewattch.cloud, go to the desired structure, and access the device to which sensors must be added.
  • Click Product list then PROVISION.
  • Select the sensor type (here EWATTCH sensor) then select the model.
  • Enter the desired name, then complete the fields DevEUI, AppEUI and AppKey, and click save.
  • To view the sensor, click Product list on the gateway. Once the sensor is provisioned on the MULTITECH, its status will change to Provisioned.
