4.Product description #

The AMBIANCE is a complète LoRaWAN™ sensor that can measure five different things: temperature, humidity, rate of presence, brightness, and CO2 as an option.

This product can run on batteries, which allows for more flexibility in its positioning.
In order to measure CO2, an EE893 sensor made by E+E must be connected to the AMBIANCE.

Its measuring cell uses dual-wavelength E+E infrared technology NDIR, which compensates for the effects of aging, is particularly resistant to pollution and offers great long-term stability.

The Ambiance sensor is configurable via its software (available here): transmission periods, radio communication parameters, network status, sensor measurement.

Caution : Measuring CO2 requires the use of an external power supply and cannot be run on batteries.

5.motion detection description #

The Ambiance sensor, thanks to its infrared sensor, is able to count the time during which a room, a corridor, or more generally an area is used.
It transmits at regulatar interval this duration as well as its other measurements using LoRa radio.

6.Product installation #

Mise en place du capteur

Fixation

This equipment can be mounted a variety of ways :

  • screwing to the wall
  • Option : using a double-sided adhesive

In order to make installation easier, you must remove the rear part of the chassis using a screwdriver.
The last step is to screw the chassis to the wall (or mount it using a double-sided adhesive) and reassemble the front part fixed to the rear part thus mounted.

Description of sensor

7.Radio communication #

The AMBIANCE periodically send its sensor measurements via a  LoRaWAN™ radio link.

In order to configure the AMBIANCE sensor for a LoRaWAN™ network, the unique encrypted identification code indicated on each product (DevEUI) is required.

As well as the following two codes AppEUI and AppKey provided with your order.

Network connection process
  • Our products try to connect to the network when they start
  • If it does not work, they will retry every 24 hours until it works.
Periodique network reconnection
  • Our products restart a network connection procedure every 7 days.
    These reconnections improve security.
Indeed, reconnection to the network renews the encryption keys.

Payloads descriptions

The AMBIANCE sensor transmits its data in raw format on different public and private LoRaWAN™ networks. The section below shows you how to decode the frames (PayLoad) sent by the AMBIANCE.

Periodic frames :

The periodic frames contain the data measured by the AMBIANCE sensor.

Example of a periodic transmitted frames (HEXADECIMAL) :

000E 00 6A0B 04 60 08 A802 10 2E04 14 5000

Status frame

The status frame contain supplementary information about the sensors (battery level, firmware version, etc.)

Example of a transmitted (HEXADECIMAL) status frame :

100A 0002 020401 0407 083C00
